Sugar isn't a replacement for flavor.
Or at least, it shouldn't be.

KK donuts are already sickeningly sweet. The only times I've ever been inside one have been on the day they opened one, and once on "Dress like a Pirate Day" because my son had a pirate's outfit and wanted a free dozen donuts. Everyone raved about their donuts, and when they opened one here about 15 years ago, I went on the first day because they were giving away a free donut. Yuck. Then, about 4 or 5 years ago for the pirate day. I had one from the dozen we got for free. That was enough. I have no desire to ever go there again.

Although the original glaze gets the most love, there are over 20 different donuts at KK.

I grew up about 30 minutes from the first KK. They have always hurt my stomach to a degree, not sure if it's all the sugar or the deep frying process or what. DD, cake donuts don't do that.
