Las Vegas? really??

Ha. Yeah, I thought there were a few real head-scratchers here. Indy was 56th, and I was surprised to see it that low - a relative lives there, and so I've been a few times. Seems nice. And Houston above Dallas? It's been awhile since I've spent much time in either, but that was a surprise.

Chongqing is really interesting, but its 30m+ population is really spread out over a province the size of Austria. It's population tied to the 9 central urban areas are 'only' 9M.

As for VA Beach, no way it's a top urban area - my brother and his wife live there, and my sister used to (both for the Navy). A major part of the city floods every year due to rising sea levels.

it's always BS.

I visited Detroit in the last year for the first time and I liked it. sure, lots of downtrodden areas, but the population is a fraction of what it was, you can't expect to have those areas populated. also, you have to like cities as I do.

Same here - I love the Art Deco style and all the art in Detroit, it's an amazing city. They'll come back.

Only five US Cities would rank in China's top 50.

I thought that China was just one big city. Sure, they have borders for administrative purposes, but if you're a foreigner driving around there, you probably wouldn't know when you left one "city" and entered another. Just teeming hordes of humanity.
