Back in 2017 Trump complained about the price of the new Air Force 1's that were being built, threatening to cancel the Boeing contracts. Then he announced that he had bargained the $4.2 Billion price down by $1 Billion.
Except no one told the Air Force or Boeing. At the time of his bragging, the General Accounting Office estimated the costs not at the $4.2 Billion the President claimed but at the $3 Billion he "bargained" the price down too.
Finally, since his dealmaking claim, costs on the jets have increased 30% from his claim to a current $5.2 Billion.
Some of the cost increase may be due to Trump's demand that the planes be delivered three years earlier than originally scheduled. Rather than 2024, he wanted delivery in 2021.
