When walking the walk, means taking a knee. Way to go, dude.

Good for him and congrats on the fencing medals.

I hope he does more than just take a knee. World class athletes have a platform they can use for good if they want. Megan Rapinoe is certainly doing that.

Isn't that song a celebration of having the freedom to sit, stand, or take a knee with your hat on or off during the song?? I don't get the people who don't get that. They seem like submissive cowards.

He’s already been on CNN talking about his reasons for his actions.

I’m not expecting this young man to become a spokesperson or bannerman (though good for him if he chooses to). He had his moment and chose to make a statement. I’m proud of him for that act alone.

I support his action, but personal experience with him some years ago; he was a bit of a showboat, may still be.

It strikes me as weird that he described this act thus: "I chose to sacrifie [sic] my moment today at the top of the podium to call attention to issues that I believe need to be addressed."

Not knocking the guy - he seems a decent fellow and I'm glad he's thinking beyond his own experience. It's just a very typical way to characterize it: 'I gave up my special moment (intended for my glory) because I have a VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE for you all.'

The message sometimes sounds more genuine and heartfelt if you can center someone else's experience as you take a knee, but baby steps, right?

I don’t get it.

We have an utter lunatic dropping poisonous shit bombs almost hourly, inciting his screw loose devotees to everything from spewing their own filth to murder and mayhem.

And when a kid makes a gesture towards raising a voice against the insanity we’re all mired in and that threatens to overwhelm us, we parse his words for ‘tone’ and sincerity. We dredge up years old acquaintances to throw shade.

WTF?
