Speaking of VW, the ID.R visits Tianmen Mountain China
#1
I'm a jealous old man, Romain Dumas has one of the best "jobs" in the world!

Volkswagen Shipped Its ID.R Electric Race Car To A Chinese Mountain By Train And
Climbed It As Fast As It Could

Jalopnik

Hot off of record-breaking Pikes Peak and Goodwood climbs and a blistering
Nürburgring record as well, Volkswagen decided it was time to bring the ID.R’s
talents east to Tianmen Mountain in China to demonstrate what its electrified
performance cars can do on yet another continent.

Earlier this week, Romain Dumas took the ID.R around the 99 tight corners that
coil 10.9 kilometers around Tianmen Mountain on the way to “Heaven’s Gate”
in 7:38.585 minutes. The road up Tianmen Mountain, which does not have the
same hill-climb tradition surrounding it as Pikes Peak, for example, is slowly
gaining prominence with its striking steep cliffs and steep curvy ascent.
The prior record holder is actually the Range Rover Sport SVR, which made its way
up the same road more than two minutes slower than the VW race car with a time
of nine minutes and 51 seconds.
(10.9k = 6.77m)

Quite the view...

It's kind of a teaser for the intro yesterday of the VW ID.3 electric car at the Fran-n-furter ;-) auto show. Up to 342 miles on a charge (I hope it's actual range and not 292 miles with a 50 mile nag reserve).

What a beautiful bit of engineering! The road I mean... I'm not a car guy.

Give people an EV like the ICE vehicles they drive: SUVs and CUVs. Move away from the econoboxes. The bigger SUVs have the capability of holding more batteries or capacitors. Tesla does it right: More of everything.
