Will a LED 4' light fixture handle old-type fluorescent lights?
#1
Probably not, but I bought some old school bulbs and the fixture for them went out. I bought a new LED fixture to future-proof, but I may be stuck with the old bulbs.

LED bulbs are directly wired to the AC power source.

Fluorescent tubes require a starter.

Dennis,

Bring them to an appropriate recycling center. Not worth the time and effort to try and reuse them.

You can still buy fluorescent fixtures and the parts for them. Modern florescent bulbs don't require separate capacitor starters.. it's built into the bulbs and the ballast (transformers).

...that crap out now wayyy before they used to.

Recycle the tubes. Buy the future.

Dennis those tubes will sell locally, no problem. Lots of people haven't yet updated to LED fixtures. Even if you give them away it's better (I feel) than trashing them.
