My buddies dad did corporate histories. When he did Alaska Airline's,he delivered 2 dozen proof copies to their board and other execs. He was called in to a meeting a few weeks later and was asked if those 24 were the only copies. They were. He was ordered to destroy his copies, any notes, sign a NDA, and was handed a check.

He passed away a number of years ago, and no one knows what he found other than Alaska's then top management. It is one of only 2 books his dad wrote that he doesn't have a copy of.
