How’re you SE Texas (Houston) folks dealing w/potential flooding event if remnants of Imelda hang around too long?

Hope you folks are gonna be safe. Are y’all in any better position to deal with such a huge potential rain event than in years past?

I may have to head down there in a few days, not sure how I’ll fare.

i’m driving down to houston friday for a concert saturday. the producer and i talked this morning. she’ll decide in the next 24 hours if we need to cancel. she was away on a cruise until last night and wasn’t even aware the storm existed. i caught a stray about Imelda late last night. hasn’t had much traction in the news cycle.

I think you should be fine on Friday depending on where you're driving down from

I believe the worst of it will be heading to the north of Houston on Thursday

I live on the west side of town and though we've gotten some rain, it hasn't been very bad, at least not yet...supposedly we may get more rain/flash flooding starting this afternoon

The area that has gotten slammed so far is the coast, east/southeast Houston and surrounding areas

Thanks for checking in on us!

nashville. was planning on stopping overnight in Marshall, TX. producer and i are wondering both about safety and if the potential audience would be inclined to hunker down for the weekend rather than venture out into saturday night dampness. i know it doesn't take much for me to simply stay in these days.

after much deliberation, the houston producers and i decided to cancel the show. we were driving in and the weather is too questionable along the route. rescheduling for next spring.

Yeah, it got really bad today for the Houston metro area (as opposed to the lashing the east side was getting yesterday)

I think it even caught the Space City Weather guys off guard

I hope everybody is okay.

Tropical Storm Imelda Will Likely Be Southeast Texas’ Fifth 500-Year Flood in Five Years [texasobserver.org]

I wonder if either of our former climate change resident skeptics are closer to believing that the weather is changing yet.
