From Dealnews: How much to tip
#1
I’m only posting link this because it referenced dealnews. It has some 50+ suggestions on how much to tip. I couldn’t find the referenced article on the DealNews web site.

You’re right. You have to go through the ‘gallery’ on that page which has 50+ tip tips.

Twenty Percent for a food tab, in cash!

Bar tabs vary.

A lot of places with touchscreens that prompt for a tip have prefilled percentages. I've noticed most start at 15% then go up to 25%. I haven't been a fan of that, especially when it's on the taxed amount. But recently I was somewhere and it started at 25% and went up to 35% or 40%. I hit no tip. I would have given them some, but those values were insulting.

I have seen some of them that list the suggested percentage and amount it turns out to. BUT, it is not right. Even if you ise the whole taxed amount it is still too high. Simple math. 20% of $20 is not $4.50!!!

....as mentioned above, some places put a 'default' of 25-30% and if you hit 'ok' that is what is given.....you have to change to lower it.......
