GOOD GOD!!! Setup two Apple Watch 3's yesterday....
#1
Before I could activate them it forced me to update to the latest WatchOS (and iOS on the iPhone 8)... I started around 4:00 PM and I think the watches were working around 9:00 we were up and running... Good god, should be able to setup right out of the box as long as the iOS and the WatchOS are compatible. Not very Apple Like... On a positive note my son's iPhone 8, Continuous Glucose Monitor (Dexcom) and Apple Watch 3 are all playing nicely and he can see his Blood Glucose Readings from his watch face!!!

Do you have to have a 8 or higher iPhone to set the watch? Or get an old iWatch?

Apple Watch is connected to WiFi. Why does Apple use Bluetooth for setup? WiFi would be faster.

Both iPhone 8 and Apple Watch 3’s. Just don’t know how you would get this setup at the Apple store. Bluetooth? Yikes.

Exactly! Very frustrating and seemingly so unnecessary since Apple Watches all support WiFi.

Diabetes - absolutely, positively not cool.

Continuous Glucose Monitor (Dexcom) - very cool.

Im a little fuzzy on the whole mechanizim, but the watch gets apps from the phone via BT when they are close together.

Try turning off BT.

This is different from where I read it, but sums it up?
