NFL Talk: Black Monday comes to Carolina + Jerry Jones 'Insights' & more...
#1
and it wasn't even Monday...
Carolina Panthers (5-7) fire HC Ron Rivera after eight years. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001...ron-rivera

So, what's ahead for Panthers' QB Cam Newton??
CBS Sports - wrote:
The question is whether or not the Panthers want to continue the Newton era or
start anew. Money may play a role in the Panthers' decision, as Newton is set to
enter the final year of his five-year, $103.8 million contract. Instead of paying
Newton in 2020 and offering him a longterm deal in 2021, the Panthers may elect
to trade Newton this offseason while using a first-round pick on a quarterback.

Carolina has already paid out the majority of Newton's bonus money so his
contract shouldn't have any hurdles in it should they attempt to trade him.
If Carolina made the decision to release Newton, they would incur just $2 million
in "dead" salary cap charges.

Cowboys at 6-6 and owner Jerry Jones comments on his Head Coach...
"Nobody has the exclusive skills to get the job done so that collectively you can
win a Super Bowl," Jones said, per The Athletic. "But there are qualified people.
Jason Garrett is one of them. In my opinion, Jason Garrett will be coaching in the
NFL next year." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001...-next-year
Jason, get your CV up-to-date?

Rivers Last Stand?
Chargers (4-8) at Jags (4-8) this Sunday.
With a healthy QB Tyrod Taylor waiting, could this be the Sunday that
Philip Rivers joins Eli & Flacco on the old QBs bench?

I would like to see Matt Stafford ask to be traded. If the Ford family thought they might start losing money on the business end of the Lions without a star on the team, they may make the real changes they need to make. Or a fan boycott may help too...

Rivera gave the new owner a reason to get his own guy with the last two losses.

Garrett surviving into next season wouldn’t surprise me because Jerry be Jerry.
