12 yo Canon MF4350.
I posted a while back about cleaning the pick up roller with distilled water. Worked for a while.
But now a different issue, partial print and somewhat smudgy, what is printed. The partial and/or smear is never in the same place.
I extracted the pick up and did a better job of cleaning.
Anyone know if this is a mechanical issue or perhaps my toner is low?
Low toner warning isn't working, but in the past when it has been low, I don't get a smudge or partial.
Hate to buy more toner if I'm just gonna be in the same boat.

If you're low on toner often taking the cartridge out and shaking it side to side to spread the remaining toner out more evenly can improve the quality until the replacement arrives.
Could also be the drum, I use Brothers where the drum is replaced separately, but on Canon I believe that it's part of the toner cartridge. If it's a worn drum where the toner isn't sticking to it, the areas of partial print should repeat on the page based on the circumference of the drum.
Do you know the page count for the printer, and for this toner cartridge, and how many pages they say you should get from it.

page count is 5300 but that's the life of the printer.
Perhaps I'm on my 4th toner cart ...at most.
No idea what is expected..
The page count doesn't appear to be high enough for a bum fuser.

hmmm, sounds a bit like what I'm seeing.
maybe should try a new toner cart.
I'm gonna try calling Canon tmrw, not that I expect much support since they sell printers and it is old.

At 5300 pages it's still a baby, I wouldn't suspect the fuser either. I searched on the toner cartridge, and Canon says 2000 pages with 5% coverage, and a price of $87, hope you can find a cheaper source, or maybe generic cartridge. So, maybe it's time.

I take it you have the 4350 as well? Yea, been good to me other than the pick up. Time will tell.
