Covid spike in South Korea
#1
SK kept the pandemic under control until recently. They were late with the vaccine, but once they started they moved very quickly. However, despite strict margins protocols and high vaccination rates, they are experiencing a lot of cases now. And many deaths.

Vaccination
South Korea has administered at least 119,880,258 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 115.9% of the country’s population.

It's not just S. Korea, it's other parts of Asia, including Vietnam, China, Hong Kong. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/worl...171134.cms

Why they're having this problem ... good question. The article I linked to suggests that it's Omicron combined with a lack of awareness of the pandemic still being an issue and complacency... sound familiar? Big Grin

on a side track, I clicked on a google news link about out of control spread in Hong Kong. It linked to India's Voice of America equivalent and in the 3 minute report, the phrase 'Wuhan Virus' was used at least 10 times. I did not hear the word 'covid'.

China just had their first significant spike in cases since they started the pandemic.

So, 10,000 deaths in a population of 51,000,000? Either they are counting deaths differently or they've been doing really well and have avoided the virus for the most part.
