btw, the way I deal with grabby kids (generally cute, but sometimes not well parented) is that I open the door with the candy in my hand, not in a bowl or pumpkin, and hand it out. they get slightly confused about that power dynamic.
Heading out candy at the door has the protection of the door and door frame. Trunk or Treat laves one wide open from grabby hands from all sides.

Drive a pickup next year and stand in the bed and throw the candy at high velocities.

I suggest as the kids reach up to pull down your container, you reach into their bags and grab a handful of whatever they have.
This has nothing to do with your poll but I make it a policy to eat one candy for every candy I hand out. That makes handing out three to each kid less painful and I get rid of the candy quicker so I can turn off the lights and call it a night.
