My son's Ti PB (667 Mhz) got a new battery a couple years back. It's got decent life (about 90 min of operation) but even when freshly recharged, the battery icon indicator shows very low % charge.
I downloaded CoconutBattery, and found an explanation (I think). It says that although the original battery capacity was 4000 mAh, the battery capacity now is 63486 mAh! (Woohoo!)
So, when it recharges to around 3000 mAh, this TiPB thinks that's only 5% of the total capacity. (The battery seems to think so too, in that with a full charge, it still shows only one LED).
At Apple, Battery Reset seems to be for older Mac laptops. Battery Update seems to be for pre-10.4 systems (and this is running 10.4). I found some suggestions to reset PRAM or reset the PMU, but I'm a little hesitant to mess with things since the battery seems to work okay, it just doesn't know how much power it has left. (As one side effect, as the battery runs out, the Powerbook just goes black, without the usual warning).
Any suggestions?
