Question about refurb 30GB iPods
#1
Are the refurb iPods at the Apple store the 5th generation as opposed to the newest 5.5 generation? I assume they are, since the 60GB was dropped from the newest generation and it is in the same category. Also they haven't included the new 80GB yet.

My daughter is thinking of replacing her mini with a 30GB refurb, but I was wondering if she should wait till the latest generation 30GBs show up. Since I have never compared the 30GB (gen. 5 ) to the 30GB (gen. 5.5) head to head, I don't know how to advise her. Any advice from anyone who has compared the two generations would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The 5Gs are identical to the 5.5G except that the 5.5Gs have better battery life (especially for video playback) and a brighter screen. The ability to d/l games on iTunes, and the new search abilities are available to the 5G via a firmware update. If your daughter is going to be playing a lot of videos I recommend the 5.5G. Otherwise the refurb 5G is a great deal.

Thanks for the info Chupa Chupa. She mainly wants it for music and really wants to spend less than $200, so I think she may go for the 30GB refurb. Now if they will just get some more in stock. Big Grin
