Oh well, I guess there's still nothing better than wired ethernet for the kind
of file transfers I need to do sometimes at home (multiple gigabytes of stuff):

good review. AirPort Disk is certainly appealing for a lot of what I do...but you won't find me paying $180 for it.

A friend was just over visiting. He had just bought and set up an Airport
Extreme base station and attached a hard drive to it, on which he had
a collection of Quicktime movies. We were sitting in my apartment kitchen,
and his Airport Extreme/hard drive was over 100 feet away on his bedroom's
window sill. He had his MacBook Pro with him, and he was able to connect
to his network and play some MOVs off his drive -- with many hiccups, but I
was still impressed that we could do it at all at this distance.
