The Reddit post sparked an investigation from a fourth-year student named River Stanley, who was writing for a university publication called MathNEWS.

Stanley sounded alarm after consulting Invenda sales brochures that promised "the machines are capable of sending estimated ages and genders" of every person who used the machines without ever requesting consent...

I'm not one to vandalize other's property because I want to sock it to The Man...

...But I'd be sorely tempted to cover the lens with a bit of epoxy.

I've never even seen an M&M machine so I doubt I'd ever have the opportunity.

I do like a 2lb bag of plain M&Ms though.

I avoid vending machines, I find most stuff overpriced and with some planing, I try to bring ahead what I need: drinks, snacks. Saves me a lot of cash and I guess some privacy, LOL

The only place I can vaguely recall that I've ever seen an m&m vending machine is at a rest stop. And I'm not sure about that, but if someone is at the Chesapeake rest stop, please check it out.
