GOP congressman asks prospective jurors to ignore the laws
#1
It's the Republican way! Forget about jurors taking an oath and doing their civic responsibility.

GOP Rep. Byron Donalds on Newsmax makes "a plea" to the people of Manhattan to acquit Trump

More: Maddow Blog:

...As it turns out, the Florida Republican wasn’t the only one trying to lobby prospective jurors from afar. A conservative media personality named Clay Travis pushed a similar message online, on his radio program, and on Fox News, urging Trump supporters to “do everything” possible to serve on the jury in the hopes of “dooming the case.”

Keep in mind, jurors raise their right hand and take an oath, which they’re supposed to take seriously, vowing to be impartial. Evidently, some of Trump’s allies like the idea of these New Yorkers ignoring their responsibilities in order to advance the former president’s political interests, regardless of the evidence against him.

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California suggested such public lobbying might constitute “jury tampering,” which in turn makes me wonder whether we’ve heard the last of this story.

The level of overt illegal behavior from some of these MAGAts is at epic levels. When there are no consequences, anything goes. Including jury tampering, voter suppression, stuffing election boxes. Apparently nothing has changed in this country in over 200 years since this crapola has gone on forever - unabated. At least in the last century, there was some effort to engage in such illegal activities covertly.

It is disgusting.
The rules only apply to other people.
You can’t tell me what to do, but I damn sure can tell you, is their only thought process
These people are despicable

Modeled off certain senators who "promised" to listen to the testimony and make an unbiased opinion.

^This is today’s GOP. The utter, shameless destruction and debasement of a great American political party.

As another example, John Sununu, the “moderate” Republican governor of New Hampshire was on ABC This Week with George Stephanopoulos just this past weekend.

[Stephanopoulos said to Sununu]: “I’m asking you about right and wrong. You’re comfortable with the idea of supporting someone who’s convicted of a federal crime as president?

No, I don’t think any American is comfortable with any of this,” Sununu replied….”but I mean…Right now this is about an election. This is about politics.”

[Stephanopoulus pressed on:] “Your words were very, very clear on January 11, 2021. You said that President Trump’s rhetoric and actions contributed to the insurrection. No other president in history has contributed to an insurrection. So, please explain.”

[Sununu replied]… “For me, it’s not about him as much as it is having a Republican administration.

They’re saying the quiet part out loud in the GOP these days. No ethical qualm or illegality can possibly change my mind; party over everything else. It’s happened before, but not in America, at least that I know of.

The discussion continued along those lines until Stephanopoulos said: “Just to sum up, you would support him for president even if he is convicted in classified documents. You would support him for president even though you believe he contributed to an insurrection. You would support him for president even though you believe he’s lying about the last election. You would support him for president even if he’s convicted in the Manhattan case. I just want to say, [your] answer to that is yes, correct?

Sununu replied with enthusiasm: “Yeah, me and 51 percent of America.”

The veil has been lifted. These people don’t believe in anything but their side “winning”.

Sad to see.

John Sununu used to be pretty normal, for a Republican.
I worry that these guys are afraid that they and their families will be hurt or killed if they stray from MAGA. That our country is being ruled surreptitiously by thugs.

Nah, he knows he would lose in a primary against a Trump supported candidate.
