Hunter gets his pardon!
#41
Just watched the CBS News coverage of this. It seemed biased to me.

They basically spent the whole time quoting people who were critical, including the former IRS investigator who the Republicans repeatedly trotted out in hearings, and spent zero time quoting anyone who supported the pardon and/or thought the prosecution was politically motivated. They even quoted the special counsel that scuttled the plea deal and brought serious charges, who not surprisingly said he didn't vindictively or selectively prosecute Hunter Biden. Sure, what else was he going to say?!

What a country. A fascist (who already pardoned a bunch of criminals and fascists and his daughter’s father-in-law) is promising to destroy the government and become a dictator, but sure, let’s debate whether Biden should have protected his son from certain persecution. I’m exhausted and infuriated by the blinders people are wearing.

Only Trump can fix it.

All you can do at this point is to set yourself up for survival, it's going to be every dog for himself. The absolute antithesis of America. All the wacky survivalists are going to be rewarded for their foresight…

If Trump can blanket pardon all the Jan 6 insurgents then Biden can blanket pardon all federal employees.

Oooh that's not a bad idea. At least it protects them up until January 4th when the new 119th Congress under Speaker Matt Gaetz can make some nonsensical law, that gets pushed through the Senate and signed by President Trump on day 1, January 20th, 2025.

Although... you may not want to pardon every act by every Federal employee - exclude things like electioneering for the incoming President.

ABCNews, the same thing -- they quoted both the Dumpster and a Democrat congressperson (I think she was) who was saying that he should have kept his word that he wouldn't pardon Hunter. Talk about selective reporting...

And I wholeheartedly agree with $tevie. The bigger picture is that we have an autocrat/fascist about to take office, who will almost certainly fulfill his campaign promise of becoming a dictator on day one and go after everyone who has "wronged" him.

Edit: oh, and of course the even BIGGER picture is that roughly 50% of the country was willing to elect a fascist convicted felon over an immensely qualified, competent black woman.

.....I have no doubt that he will go after those he views as having 'wronged' him.....

If I'm Hunter, I'd want to protect my mom and dad as much as I can.

On a practical level.
