will/should Greenland deny landing rights?
#1
Greenland officials have called planned visits to the island by US officials, including second lady Usha Vance and National Security Advisor Mike Walz “highly aggressive.”

Perhaps Greenland should assert its independent status by refusing landing rights to any place other than Thule Air Force Base. The nearest town to the base has a population of around 400 and is a thousand miles from the capital of Nuuk

Though I would want to see the reaction from 45/47 when it was specified by its current name - Pituffik Space Base. It was transferred to the Space Farce that he created, and was renamed in 2023.

I knew it was renamed but figured more would know it by it's former one.

I had not heard Thule was renamed, but wholly support using the new name PItuffik Space Base. It has a nice ring to it.

I support 100% the people of Greenland making their own decisions. Just be wary of any bounty or award offered by any American billionaires or their proxies.

Yeah, we coming to talk to you about your future...

It seems as though the plans were made public before confirming anything with Greenland.

The smacks, on a much much smaller scale, of in-laws telling other family members they're coming to stay with you, before telling telling you of their visit.

So yeah, if they can, a temporary restriction to the US base would be a nice tweak, until there's a public announcement that the US will no longer consider the acquisition of Greenland lby the US.

I imagine they could restrict some/most/all/? base personnel to the base.

Most of CFDT's talks on the matter openly assume Greenland has no say.

Watch: Trump forgets Usha Vance's name ahead of her Greenland visit

"And we were invited over there and I thought it would be a great, I have great respect for the wife of our first, of our great vice president."

It's more blatant on the video:

"In a statement following Vance’s announcement that he would be visiting Greenland on Friday, the vice president’s office said that Vance’s wife, Usha, had cancelled a scheduled appearance at a marquee dogsled race on the island this week. The organizers of the race had previously said that Usha had not been invited, but added that the event was open to the public and that she and her son “may attend as spectators.” - NYT

Hubby's on the way! Sounds like a great time!
