New mac version of free online backup service
#1
Hi there guys. Just a heads up that this free online backup service

http://mozy.com/

has just come out with a public beta of their Mac OSX client.

I had set up this software on my wife's Dell months ago, and it has worked well. You get 2 gigabytes of offline storage for free, and it uses a dedicated system-level app to automatically do incremental backups at the time of your choosing. If you have more than 2 gigs to back up it has an intuitive GUI for deselecting the bigger files and folders. The backups can be encrypted as well with a password that you choose.

Although there are a lot of companies that do this kind of thing, I was impressed that they released a beta of the mac version, since these types of companies rarely give us mac users a 2nd thought. You can get access to the mac beta by clicking here

Their business model for the free version is apparently that in return for the free storage you agree to recieve an email solicitation, only from them, very seldomly. We siged up months ago and have only recieved one email maybe once every couple of months.

Not an employee or anything, just a happy customer (are you a "customer" when it's free?)

Thanks!

You beat me to this by a few minutes! Unfortunately, it needs 10.4 and greater.
