MySQL, Apache, Perl, PHP, phpMyAdmin, WordPress...

I can't fathom how these things are all free. I owe a good part of my career to the developers.

I try developing something that's 1/50th the scale as something like phpMyAdmin, and it's a PITA. How do the Open Source folks do it?

1) there is more than one developer
2) Make a donation for the software that you use.
3) I'm not positive that MySQL is free if you're using it for a business/commercial application. Check the license.

That is probably a good part of the problem too. A life and a Wife always get in the way.

I just started a site that is hosted on a Windows server.
All the sites I've done previously have been Linux.

Windows is a pain.

Are you sure PHP isn't free for commercial use.

Most of the intenet must be running on free PHP surely?
