Anybody familiar with this SRS iWOW plug-in for iTunes?

SRS has a plug-in for iTunes that supposed to "provide amazing audio immersion and maximum thump for a personalized audio experience!" How could you not love that!

I'm not a "thump" fan, but *real* bass is a visceral experience, and I don't think this plug-in will provide that.

SRS is not a process approved by audiophiles/purists.

For those types, playing with the audio is pretty much verboten.

But I've got the SRS option on my old 32" Sony XBR, and for "adding separation" (the speakers are only about 2.5' apart) it works pretty well.

It's a $20 product and that seems a little steep to me, but there is a free demo.

Has anybody used this, or are there any fans/haters of SRS, and why?

Something that does give me pause is this line:

Sleek easy-to-use interface design with energizing sonic-like pulses (emphasis mine)

I'm not sure if that's an audio "feature" or what.

I had a bitch of a time trying to uninstall it. I think I ended up re-installing iTunes.

Thanks for the link, I'm just now running it in conjunction with Volume Logic. It radically changes the sound of my music from the laptop. I have yet to hook it into the stereo or the DJ equipment and see what it does on the big stage.

elahon, I assume the included Uninstaller didn't work? That's good to know.

blu, I think things like this are suitable for notebooks, laptops, or any other device where the speakers are fairly close together, or the program material little separation (or is mono), and the listener is in a non-critial mode.

I don't see these things as giving truly "normal" enhancements, and in a stage setting may be completely unnecessary.

But I'll try it on my PB.

You are probably right, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
