Tell me where to go. really It's OK
#1
It is high time that I learn how to use iMovie. I want to cut some scenes from a homemade movie, maybe move some VHS tapes to DVDs and record off the Panasonic cable set top box.

An obvious source of information is David Pogue's "iMovie 6 and iDVD, the Missing Manual" but the information box tells me that I have iMovie 3.0.3. Will the Pogue book help, given the differences in the versions?

a Google search gives me some sources that date back to 2004 which is pre Panther!

I'll be using my G5 iMac with Tiger. I do not have iLife, because up to this point I've not needed it.

So, where do I go to learn how to move past music and get going in video?

TIA

Some ideas:
1. Keep searching for an old book
2. Just play around with it/use the built-in Help --- you won't hurt anything
3. Wait for iLife '07 in a few months
4. Look for a deal on iLife '06

Now, importing INTO the Mac is another topic ...

For the cost of postage, I could send you the iLife '04 discs. And as soon as iLife '07 comes out, I'll probably make the same offer for iLife '05. PM me if interested.

Fry's usually have some excellent close-out deals in their "discounted books" area. Usually about 25 percent of the original cost. Yesterday I even saw a couple of older iApps books which might work for you. These books can be hard to find, but are usually in big box-like displays with a mixture of books.

And you could search Amazon - they have some excellent deals on used books. Most used books I have purchased from them have looked brand new.

Maybe it's just because I've been around video for a long time, but I don't think iMovie really warrants a manual.

Just give it a shot, it's all pretty intuitive.
