Wow, and I thought 8 months for a $50 rebate check (from eCost, or something purchased there anyway) was a record.

nope. 3 years is my personal best. Some state attorney general got after the company, I think it was PQI for a memory card or something. $20 appeared out of the blue. I had to go back through my emails to figure it out.

I guess I'm lucky, I've never been stiffed and I've never had to wait much longer then the specified time, but now that I've mentioned it....

I think the way some of these companies make money is to sell things for more than they are worth, promise you a rebate, and in the time it takes for you to get that check they invest the extra money into some high yield fund. As soon as they earn a profit on that then they will mail you the check. This way they can never actually lose money.

the ATI rebate was direct through ATI... the rebate form came straight from their website, and the email [finally] came from ATI, not a rebate processing company, though I'm assuming at this point the [final] processing is going through a third party company. I got lucky w/ the whole original purchase, and was able to use a couple of coupon codes, and a blanket sale discount in effect at the time, already worth more than the [delayed] $30 rebate, which is just icing on the cake. if you want a good read on investing and paying spiffs out of profits, check up on S&H green stamps...
