pairing a remote with the appletv

I have decided to give the appletv a try. It will sit very close by my imac and I'm worried that the remote will try to control both devices. I've read the apple page on how to pair the remote with the appletv but will that prevent the remote from working with the imac also? thanks,

You can specifically pair a remote to work with each device. One remote for the imac & one remote for the Apple TV.
