Cool ebay seller is a Mac user
#1
So I've been trying to find a replacement wheel for my car. After months of not finding a replacement, Z posted in an earlier thread regarding how to search for parts. That helped and I bought a wheel from one of the junkyards that showed up in the search.

They called me today to say the wheels are in worse condition than they had thought, said it's probably only suitable for a spare. So no go there (though I see they billed my card, $170.) I searched some more and found another junkyard that has a wheel, and it's apparently in good shape.

But on ebay, a seller posted three good and one bent wheels. Each selling individually. I really want one of the wheels, so knowing I can't ask him to just end his auction early and sell to me outside of ebay, I asked if he would be willing to change his auction to a buy-it-now. I told him I had found the wheel for $150+shipping.

I gave him the whole story on why I wanted the wheel... crack in January, been searching... knowing he could be a jerk and notice my demand, the supply... and charge accordingly. But I wanted to give him reason to go through the extra effort.

He replied back and told me he only hoping to get $100 for each, plus shipping ($27 in my case.) I said that sounded great, and we've setup a time to make the switch so I can buy the wheel.

In our email exchange, I noticed he had an @mac.com email address... how cool is that.

I guess that's what you call good carma. $127 shipped is a hell of a deal. My 1 year only Sable wheel was $90 shipped, and they were overstock on a very slow moving item.

He put it up for sale at the buy-it-now price he said he would, and I purchased it. Within a half hour or so of paying for it, he had a tracking number for me.

So far it seems to be going very well.
