Applecare for iPhone available @ Apple Store....
#1
Wondered if they were going to offer it.

At $69 it's great if the phone breaks, much better than the $5 per month/w$50 deductable I pay Verizon for my Treo 650.

But what if it gets lost or stolen?

Hmmmm... not a bad idea... I still have a $35 off certificate, so that brings me down to $30 for this.

Lost or stolen -- as RAMd®d pointed out, it has a security lock feature. I can't wait for Orbicule to put out a version of Undercover for the iPhone... takes photos of the thief with the camera. Maybe I'll suggest this to the developer....

Hrm..

If this is the same as the other Applecares, it won't cover drops, cracks, etc - right?

There is no hard drive to fail, so I feel like it'd only be a failing touchscreen or maybe loose headphone or dock connector I'd be covering.

If that's true, $69 for 1 extra year actually seems a bit steep to me.

Yes, but I think it includes the battery, so it's not a bad deal if you will be keeping the phone for 2 years. The battery is going to only last a bit over 1 if you charge it daily and battery repair alone is $85.
