Walk you fools. Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 $30 AR
#1
At Circuit City. $80 minus a pair of $25 rebates (yeah, I know). The one I picked up this morning is labeled RightLight2 which makes it compatible with 10.4.9.

More details tonight after I get it hooked up.

It's a decent USB cam with built-in mic...though I've not used it on any of my Macs so I'm anxious to hear how well it works with Skype, iChat, etc. under OS X

Decent and more in my book. Works great on Macs.

For $30 does it have to be?

Besides, iSights are made of Unobtainium. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium

What does facial tracking do? Is it a mechanical pan/tilt/zoom? Or digital like a steadyshot crops shots?

Did the SuperDuper backup and upgraded to 10.4.10 from 10.4.8 to get the new drivers.

Plugged the Logitech into one of the ports on my monitor.

Fired up iChat, and saw myself. Only buddies online were voice-only, but the sound quality on their end was acceptable.

Tested sound and video recording with iMovie. Oddly enough 4.0 recognizes the camera, but 6.0.3 does not.

Assuming the rebates work, this is well worth it.
