Deleted PithHelmet and broke Safari: next step?
#1
In my glee about finding that CSS style sheet to block ads (see thread below) I deleted PithHelmet by using Spotlight to locate all Pith files, then I trashed them and emptied my trash. Then I found I could no longer view video (NASA tv, Youtube, Google Video, etc.), and that other sites that use Flash (I think) wouldn't work. I looked up "uninstalling PithHelmet" and found that there are a couple of other things to delete: DuctTape.framework and DuctTape.pkg so I trashed those too. Still not working.

So somehow I crippled Safari. Now, before I mess around and destroy something else, should I restore all my old Safari stuff from bacup (Apple Backup in my case)? Try running a Safari updater?

If you're using Safari's latest version (3.0.3, and you should), just re-download and reinstall from the website.

If you're using an older version, reinstall from your original CDs/DVDs using pacifist.

Unfortunately I can't use 3.03 (tried it, like it) because I have to use a client's internal web-based database which isn't yet compatible with it. So 2.04 is what I'm using.

I appears that everything in Home>Library>Internet Plugins was deleted. How that happened I don't know, but I'm restoring those files from Backup now.

All fixed. Move along, nothing to see here.
