Help! Computer is talking to me...
#1
Literally. I woke it up this AM and the first thing I noticed was a solid black rectangle around the icons on my desktop that I clicked on and then it would start talking to me telling me the name of the file. Then I would go to my dropdowns and it would say out loud every thing I click on and it's in this electronic voice. Also I noticed that some menu items such as Shutdown are duplicated. What's going on and how do shut it off? As of now I have turned off the sound but this is really crazy.
iMac Core Duo 2.0 10.4.9.

Go into your System Prefs>Universal Access and turn off Voice Over. I think Command, F5 does it, too.

VoiceOver was on. I didn't turn it on! Actually, my iMac is a bit flaky. Among other things, I have it set to Sleep after 15 minutes but it won't Sleep unless I do it with the Power button.
The VoiceOver thing has me baffled.
Anyway, that was it and once again this august forum comes to the rescue!

When it starts singing "Daisy, Daisy give me your answer do..." then you should be worried, very worried. Smile
