How to change time machine drive icon?
#1
Any way to change the icon for a time machine backup drive? I can change other drive icons but not the one time machine uses.

Find the new icon you want as your Time Machine icon and copy it to your clipboard. Now select the original Time Machine icon on your desktop and right click. (option -click if you have a one button mouse) Now "get info" and select the small Time Machine icon in the upper left corner of the get info window. (you will see a slight glow around the icon when selected) Now go up to the menu bar and edit/paste. Viola!

'Not sure what the trouble is. There's nothing special about a Time Machine drive.

Thanks guys but I have tried that and no luck. Works fine on everything but that drive.

Maybe there's a problem with privileges on a pre-existing drive icon.

I'd use the Terminal to look at the root directory of that drive and if there's an invisible icon file present I'd delete it, log out and in again and then try to paste in a new icon.
