Good afternoon and thank you for your inquiry. The iSub is not
supported under the newer platforms, as the iSub has been out of
production for over 5 years. All the drivers for the iSub were
developed by Apple and integrated into the operating system. Apple
discontinued support for the iSub.

So, hope does not look to be appropriate now . . . however the iSub is still part of the iSticks and still sold by HK . . . just another part of "the man" crapping on us, I guess!

Ouch!(Tongue)

That hurts just to read it Bill! There's plenty of iSub folks out in Apple Land who feel just like you do. Pretty stupid to not include drivers for them in the new OS, I mean RREAALLY!::o

Personally, there's a LOT about the Leopard OS that strikes fear and loathing into me, even though I've upgraded everything here but the wife's iMac Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz ...she won't let me touch her computer, tells me "Just leave MY Mac alone!" 10.4.11 is a really nice system to jump from into the uncharted waters of Leopard.8-)

I don't like the Epson printer dialogue. I don't like Pages or Cover Flow or Spaces, all that eye candy I could do without. Time Machine, I just don't trust it yet, but I'm using it anyway instead of my beloved SilverKeeper nightly backups, 9 years worth of that. Perhaps there's something good that I'm missing but it's just so radical of a change in the OS that it's really taking me some getting used to.

Well, I can tell you that there's always a Logitech sound system in your future, if you want to really score the best system(s) for the $$ out there. I've been using their sound system with my G5 Dual Core 2.3Ghz (PCI Express) since I got the machine, running a 3-into-1 Radio Shack headphone adapter kit into my Sound Out analog port, with the Logitech 3-dongles plugged into it. Sounds Awesome! The bass sub-woofer could break my studio's windows if I cranked it up past 7, I assure you. (Big Grin

It's called the Logitech Z-5300E THX-Certified 6-speaker sound system (5 35/39RMS Watt satellites and the BIG sub-woofer putting out 100W RMS=280W RMS/560W Peak Power), and it can be had for only $137.91 shipped/delivered from ZipZoomFly.com:

If you need less, they have nice smaller systems too. Might as well kiss the iSub system good-night Irene and play another fiddle about now...just a suggestion I came up with for you. Sorry to hear them go, but this type of progress is permanent, and stifling.Wink

Thanks for the commiseration . . . I will send my feelings to Apple and get on the noise bandwagon and hope that enough people do the same.

I already have a Klipsch multimedia 2.1 that I will hook back up. They were on my Pismo, but now my Pismo is driving my iTunes jukebox hooked up to my Home Theater speakers.

Just hate discarding something that still works . . . well, works is not the correct word any longer is it? For lack of something probably very simple in the coding . . . bummer.

If the problem really is a lack of driver-support then I wonder whether replacing a particular kext with that from a Tiger install would fix your problem.

Replacing the AppleUSBAudio.kext might do the job. It definitely has code for the iSub in it. Whether that's what you need to get the iSub working is an open question at the moment.

Obviously, replacing a kernel extension entails some risk -- messing with your System/Library folder can have nasty results and using an obsolete extension can make your Mac unstable and cause some functions to stop working. If you decide to try replacing the extension, don't do it without a backup and keep a copy of the Leopard kext file available just in case you need to drop it back in.
