I have installed Leopard and the update to 10.5.1 , , , no print drivers for my Apple LaserWriter 12/640 PS . . . what is up with this? No more Apple drivers for this printer?
I am SO not liking this "upgrade" to Leopard.

Try re-running the Leopard installer, and "Customize"...
I think some printer drivers are Optional installs... maybe they made the Laserwriters optional installs?
Other than that, I dunno.
(but this is the sort of thing that has me waiting a while to upgrade!)

Yes, AppleTalk is turned on . . . my Canon printer is the only printer found. This was not a problem in Tiger.
Thanks for the response.

I can not find the Printer Set up Utility. Not in Applications Folder or the Utilities Folder. Spotlight does not reveal it. I tried to run the one from Tiger but it will not load.
Next.

Printer must be connected & powered on, so Mac or Router 'talks' with it.
Enable AppleTalk.
Launch System Preferences > Print & Fax > Click + to add printer. With a proper connection, OS X will locate the printer and its PPD file.
The Apple printer PPD files are installed by default at:
/Volumes/Macintosh HD/System/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/
the files are 'gzip' format, e.g. LaserWriter 12_640 PS.gz; and the installer handles them automatically.

Yes, I have located the drivers (with your direction) and they are there. AppleTalk has been on, but perhaps it was not on the first time I went through this "routine". I have now been able to find and add the LW 12/640 . . . AND I can report a successful printing . . .
Thank you!
