Tax Credit for Siding House??
#1
I've heard that homeowners that have their houses sided can get
some kind of tax credit?? I'm hoping if I can get mine done before
the end of the year that I'll qualify. Anyone know where I can get more
info or approxitmately how much of a credit I might expect?? I'm
located in a Chicago suburb.

TIA,
Prof

I believe it's just for energy-saving upgrades. I had my attic insulated this year, i'll get 10% credit.

I believe it's for adding insulation, which is often part of the siding process Check with a tax specialist for certitude.

Also note- if you're replacing aluminum with vinyl, make sure the value of the aluminum is considered as part of the bid. A buddy of mine had his house resided with vinyl, and all he paid for was the materials. The contractor took the scrap value of the aluminum siding as the labor charge.
