Toast is great.

Real butter, strawberry jam... My dad came over today with some .avi's of a Ferrari F1 car we saw in Monterey. He wanted the sound ripped and burned to a cd. I looked at the web to try to figure out how to turn it into a .mov, since I new I could strip the video off in garageband with a .mov. It looked like a lot of people have been frustrated trying to do the same. I don't know why, but I remembered seeing an export button in toast, so I fired it up, and dragged the files onto the window, hit export, and I didn't even have to save it as a .mov. It had .wav as an option. Dad was impressed (his windows buddy said it was too complicated to explain how to do it). Oh, and did I mention his wife and in-law were waiting in the car (must. hurry.) Thank you Toast. kj.

QT Pro would easily allow you to edit down to the section you wanted and then export as an AIFF or WAV or MPEG4 and many other formats.

You know what. QT wouldn't even play these dudes without perian installed. I think they were divx in a .avi container. Actually, I don't know for sure that QT would play them _with_ perian, since I didn't try, but I'm assuming it would. PLUS, Toast didn't cost me much more than QT pro, and it does frickloads more. At any rate, I didn't know 'til today that Toast was so slick at converting files, and I don't have QT pro. kj.

QT won't open way too many files, despite plug-ins. Some it only sees 30 seconds of a 30 minute clip.

They don't even get naked in the first 30 seconds!

Haha.

But as a downloader of quite a lot of files I can't say that I have noticed any problems that cannot be fixed by getting the correct plug-in. Maybe I don't frequent the same porn sites as you.

kj - Toast is excellent, I agree, I use it a lot. I like to have a variety of options available to me. Your example was very familiar as I did something very similar recently for a friend and QT was all I needed to edit and then save.
