Where to buy 2 small(ish) SATA Hard Drives CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!?
#1
I need a matched pair of SATA hard drives to make a small RAID set in my gaming PC.
The motherboard has a wonderful pair of built in SATA connectors but they will ONLY work in a RAID configuration! I have simply been running the machine using a PATA hard drive up to this point but would like to try using a RAID 0 set for the boot drive and for running some of the games to see if I can't get a little better performance.

The top priority is that the drives cost me as little as possible since I really don't need to do this.

I don't care what brand they are or what size, 60/80/120/160GB whatever, as long as they are identical!
I mean I want two matching drives of the same brand and model number.

I don't need cables or anything else and I don't care if they are new or used as long as both drives are functional, no SMART errors etc...

If you know of an absolutely KILLER deal someplace or would like to help me out by clearing off some shelf space please drop me a PM...

If it's something you don't need, why are you so adamant that they be identical? A RAID doesn't need identical drives, it'll run as fast as the weakest link allows. Since you're willing to go with 60GB drives, you don't seem to care how weak the thing is as a whole. Just buy similar drives and you should be fine.

OK

I know that the RAID drives don't "need" to be identical, so lets just say that I would "prefer it" if they were...........

ZipZoomFly had the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630AS 500GB Serial ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer for $69.99 + ship earlier in the week.

Today, I received the two I ordered on Tuesday just under $150.

Thanks, but I guess I should have just asked if anybody had some take-out drives from an upgrade that they wanted to get rid of...

I am an avid shopper of deals and spend a fair amount of time looking at the prices of Hard Drives almost every day!

What I am hoping to find here is a couple of drives that will cost me less than 10 gallons of gas. O.K.
