MacSpeech dictate review...
#1
Hello everyone,

In case any of you are considering voice dictation software, I have spent the last month using MacSpeech Dictate, and it is incredible. While it does not learn from its mistakes yet -- it will after a free upgrade at some point -- you almost don't need to do any correcting. I have done only the initial training, which takes about five minutes, and the recognition is almost perfect.

I have used speech recognition software since the early power Secretary days, then ViaVoice, then I listen -- but this software blows them all away.

I have dictated this entire posting without correcting, directly into Firefox, so you can see the accuracy right out of the box, and basically, it types as fast as I speak.

If you hate typing, or type slowly, or have RSI as I do, this software is a godsend.

Sweet! I have been looking forward to this..

I was (once upon a time) SO looking forward to iListen... and VERY disappointed in it.
MacSpeech is a good company, and they were Mac Developers during the "dark days", but iListen just SUCKED... as much as I wanted to support MacSpeech back then.

Maybe I need to try Dictate.

We were looking forward to demoing this at our Mac User Group and then the guy who wanted to buy it heard differing reviews on different forums. It is nice to hear you like it.

iListen was a disappointment and we are afraid of getting stung again.

David Pogue likes Dictate and did a video review of it. I think we will eventually review it too. It would be nice to finally get a voice recognition software that actually works.

That sounds very positive. It is really nice to see a good solution available for the Mac.

All I can add to the review is...

Dear aunt, let's set so double
the killer delete select all.

Edit:
In case that was too obscure, check out the video of the demo of the MS Vista speech recognition software.

Just your general low IQ slur. Otherwise, pretty standard newscaster style.
