Logitech MX510: found a good source
#1
For those (like me) that found the Logitech's MX510 the best Mac mouse ever created, Hardware Cooling just got a new stock of them in. Brand new, in box, not refurbed. Because Logitech no longer makes these, they're getting harder and harder to find. Hardware Cooling just got about 20 blue ones left, and have free shipping:

In the past you had ordered the Logitech MX510 Gaming Mouse from us. We just wanted to let you know that we have a shipment of these factory new MX510 back in stock for a limited time. We are offering free shipping if you place your order by May 12th which is on a Tuesday. Please use coupon code:

Just to add further appeal for those considering one, these are great mice. I've been using one at work for the past few days and it's very nice. I still prefer my MX1000, but the MX510 is still really nice, much lighter too.

Those are great mice. I have several red ones from a few years ago still in boxes.

I don't know if there's a difference in price, but isn't the MX518 the same size and features (but possibly with an upgraded sensor)? Basically the same mouse but a current model so you don't have to search for old stock. I suspect the Logitech G5 might be the same too.

Which mouse are you referring to, AllGold.

The MX510 is a wired mouse, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. As microchip pointed out, some like a cordless.

The Logitech G5 doesn't have any Mac drivers, at least from Logitech. However, USB Overdrive (which I use but it is getting long-in-the-tooth) will run it.

really like the MX510..., but Logitech's software could use a swift kick; the MX510 on one of our G4's now loses its tracking speed setting most of the time upon restarting. have to open up the control panel, and change speed settings back and forth, and then it's usually OK for the rest of the day. loses tracking speed setting w/ long sleep, too, sometimes. other than the annoyance of the software glitch, it's a robust performer. just wish more of the cool mice out there that are PC friendly, would gear up and work properly on our Macs...

What I was trying to say is I think the MX510 and MX518 are the same except the 518 isn't discontinued. Same shell at least.

I use Logitech mice too but the 510/518 is too large for my taste.

Completely agreed. I wouldn't run Logitech's Mac software on any of my Macs.

Fortunately, there are two great options: USB Overdrive, and SteerMouse. Both have their advantages. And it looks like SteerMouse makes the Logitech G9 mac-compatible.
