Resizing MOV files?
#1
Okay so my dad wanted me to build him a site for his after retirement guitar playing gigs. He sends me video camera clips as MOV files. They are too large to post online. I tried one and resized in in Dreamweaver so of course it is still the actual size when someone is trying to load it and it takes forever. That and I don't get STOP, PLAY, etc. buttons when I place it - it just starts on it's own which I do not want.

So basically I need to know how to resize these clips - do I need a certain program to do it? Do I just need to purchase Quicktime Pro?

As far s no stop, play button is concerned I did find some tutorials on this and followed them through but the buttons just didn't show up. I am still searching for the problem on this one.

QT Pro will do it but give Handbrake at try. It's free. http://handbrake.fr/

Interesting. This sounds really cool. I thought HB would only accept MPEG-2 sources.

From their site:
VIDEO_TS folder, DVD image or real DVD (encrypted or unencrypted, but protection methods other than CSS are not supported and must be handled externally with third-party software), and some .VOB and .TS files

Try iSquint.

All of these suggestions should work.
Also iMovie would work too-if the files can be imported into it, then you can just choose which size you want to "Share" or Export. You could do some quick editing in there if necessary.

There are lots of reasons to have Quicktime's features unlocked. The free version feels crippled (if you use QT a lot, I do) and QT Pro, at only twenty nine bucks, is cheap, useful, and worth it.

However, most of the locked features in the free version of QT aren't really locked, outside applications access that capability. iSquint is probably an example. Many other media apps, some of them free, use QT's built-in but invisible tools to give you the ability to edit content.
