No one likes Ad-Aware Free version any mo'?

Already have AVG 8.0 installed on our sole Windows XP Pro PC. Just through reading a slew of bad reviews on the latest Ad-Aware. What other FREEware we can use to protect the PC? TiA

I've used Spy-bot search and destroy before. I generally used that and Ad-Aware though cause each seemed to catch things the other didn't.

Same here.

I didn't realize Ad-Aware 2007 had such a terrible reputation.

Spybot also has fallen off the recommended lists. OC World did a review of the latest crop of anti-spyware and their assessment was that Spybot S&D hasn't kept up with the latest malware.

I'm not sure what freebie ones are still OK to use.

Ad Ware 2007 does not seem to catch the nasties as well as the older versions. SpyBot Search and Destroy seems to work quite well on flushing out the bad stuff. They are over 150K of different malware in their definition data base.

Oh, by the way, it's supposed to be "PC World" not "OC World".
