There was a deal this morning, a Samsung Spinpoint 750 GB, 7200, 32 MB for around $100 + shipping, and I almost pulled the trigger but did not. Later in the day I read a few comments that this drive comes with a 1 year warranty, not 5 like Seagates. I know that once the drive is toast warranty is the least you should worry about (it's all about the data, right?), but still, if the drive was that reliable, why not offer a 5 year warranty. Then I wanted to find out what the warranty was, and it turns out neither Fry, nor Newegg list warranty on their site, and even worse, I went to Samsung's web site and I did not see any warranty listed.
What's up? you would think warranty is one of the basic things that should be listed in a spec sheet, wouldn't you?
