I had a great add-on to Firefox which is disappeared. When you highlighted text, it would automatically copy it into the copy paste buffer. I used it all the time, and now I can't remember what it was called. Any ideas?

Man that sounds like a great add on. I am curious to know about it as well.

I know that Netscape 8.1.3 for Win XP has that built-in.
It's an option about showing a context menu when text is highlighted (maybe those terms will help you find one for Firefox---I can't believe there isn't one out there!)

This was an add-on extension for Firefox. I looked in the Mozilla add-on archive, and I can't find it. I can't remember what the name was. The icon was a little green check in the lower right-hand corner of the browser window.

I didn't find that one, but take a look at 'Clipmarks' extension. That looks REALLY useful. Not in the way that you're looking for, but useful nonetheless.

was it
AutoCopy?
are you sure it was a green checkmark? That sounds like Firebug (which is actually a white checkmark in a green circle).

Are you sure it was an add-on and not a built-in option?
Type
about:config
in your url bar.

Ah, I use Linux so I never noticed a need for this add on. The default behavior in the Gnome UI is for highlighted text to be placed on the clipboard. I'll have to add this on my Macs at home though. I REALLY like this feature on Linux.
