I wish - except for 2 days off for emergency surgery for my doggie who needed tie back surgery, which wasn't much fun for either of us, Sad I've gone 5 weeks without a day off. And I've still got a few more weeks of this ahead.

Sure would like to pay a trip to the neighborhood for some good old macaroni, maybe at Cono's on Graham Ave. this time. Smile

Aargh. Poor doggie. I hope doggie's recovery goes OK. Are you self-employed,
or do you have some cruel amount of responsiblity somewhere? How on earth do
you withstand so many days of work without a break? That would drive me nuts
(unless I was making obscene amounts of money perhaps).

Hi, just got home from the vet. My girl is having a tough time - her rear legs wouldn't work this morning. She's going to be 13 in August and has a bad disk in the lower spine. Doc thinks maybe a pinched disc but I don't know at this point. We'll have to see.

Not self-employed, I have the [sarcasm] good fortune [/sarcasm] to now be a "manager" at my job. Hence, I get to work sweatshop hours. Now that I am home I get to VPN in and work all night.

I am quite fried but will probably have to keep going till end of June- mid July. It sure sux growin' up and havin' to get a "real job". Blah!! Wink

Poor old doggie. I've seen people in my neighborhood laboriously lifting their large and
infirm dogs up their front steps because the dog had lost its mobility. I hope your dog
recovers.

Your job sounds inhumane. I hope you don't burn out or collapse from the stress.
Is your situation non-negotiable as far as getting more help or relief?

Thanks for the kind wishes for my girl. Actually she was walking a little bit before so I've got my fingers crossed tight. She had me laughing my butt off a little while ago. I was feeding her and made her sit to keep her from getting hurt but her butt kept sliding a bit. Still, she didn't want to stop eating and her tail was wagging like crazy. A true Lab.

Right now my job is nuts because we are doing 3 new dynamic websites and the due date is a little ambitious which is not unordinary for these guys. I've actually got a development team working with me and a junior graphic designer on staff. It's just a friggin' BIG job. VP tells me I have "job security" Smile

Hey Joe,

I think there is some kind of a sling for your girl's hind legs. A neighbor used on his 16 year old GS when the doggie was too weak to walk on his own. I can check with my neighbor for you if you wish. Hope doggie will have a full recovery.

Regarding your work hours, man, I thought my S/O had it tough working 10-11 hours for two weeks straight at times. She works as an independent consultant for a non profit agency so there is no sick leave nor vacation nor holiday. And the pay is a joke ... she's working for her gas money and lunch. Yes, she's been looking for other opportunities.

Kap, thanks. I have a sling for her. A woman I work with gave me one she had for her Lab after she passed on. It has helped a lot. My girl was up and walking around a bit before - not so good yet but she's up so I'm hoping the vet was right about a pinched disc.

She's had some problems with a disc in her spine being almost worn away since 2006. Other problems have been showing up since the winter, most notable was a worsening condition of laryngeal paralysis ( somewhat common in older, big dogs and Labs) which inhibits their breathing.

She had tie back surgery for it last Monday and was doing so much better. Not much sleep for me at all in the last couple of weeks but things were starting to settle in until this morning.

She's a doll, even when sick she is total sweetness, kissing everyone and wagging her tail. Hopefully her meds will straighten this out. After they have tie back surgery they very often have a good recovery. I'm hoping so.
