DVD Player: can hear audio, but no video
#1
Strange: I'm trying to play a USA DVD with DVD Player (the version 5.01 that comes with Leopard 10.5.2). I can hear the sound, but no video. The Viewer window is even open, but it remains black and empty.

I've also tried changing the DVD to different zones (File: Get Disc Info: Regions), but it doesn't make any difference.

Any ideas?

I may have found the answer:

Looks like DVD Player may just not play all DVD movies and the free VLC Player is the way to go in those cases.

Not a region code thing. Try clicking and dragging the Video_TS folder from the disc and dropping it onto the DVD icon in the dock. If that still doesn't work, open the Video_TS folder from the disc, sort by file size (highest to lowest) and drag and drop the largest item onto the DVD player icon.

Also might be a camera angle feature issue.

Try this. Click on GO, then click on your account (home logo), then go to LIBRARY, then go to PREFERENCES, then highlight com.apple.DVDplayer.plist and delete this folder. Now re-boot your computer and try playing the DVD again. It will automatically recreate a brand new DVDPlayer.plist folder and voila, it should play normally.
