I don't remember where I heard it it, but I ate some tonight, and they were definitely soaked in vanilla ice cream. I don't know if that's a local thing or not.
It's true. Sonic puts vanilla ice cream in their onion ring batter

I use a beer batter, but a milk based batter also works. Just add a little vanilla extract to the milk if you want that sort of flavor profile.

My wife brought home shakes from Sonic a few weeks ago. I have to question whether they use ice cream in those, let alone their onion rings. Tasted more like ice milk to me. Pretty crappy.

This is very credible. It has long been known that McD's sugars their fries and maybe more.

Sugar, and Beef Fat (Tallow).
It isn't McDonalds, it is the company that makes the fries. I am not defending McD's, just that is the line that they are handing out despite the lawsuit! BGnR

Someone told me that half the Colonel's secret herb recipe is sugar. Someone said he used to put an equal amount of sugar with the herbs.

If it was sugar, the chicken would burn.
