"New" used laptop
#1
Have been looking for a newer laptop for quite a while. I am still using a G3 600 Mhz 14" iBook. I decided I didn't want a Macbook. It was the size. My eyes are getting really bad for reading and knew the size of the screen would be too small for me. A Macbook Pro looked good but didn't want to spend over a $1000.

Found an Aluminum G4 1.5 Mhz 1 GB 15" G4 Powerbook
(Jan'05) on craigslist. First posted for $675 but I did some research on ebay and mac2sell and offered her $550. She took my offer.

Picked it up today. I'm pretty happy with it. A few scratches on the bottom but otherwise looks clean and appears to be running well. Used migration assistance and moved my stuff over from the ibook.

It came loaded with Leopard and fully updated. I'm not sure about this os, I was using 10.3. There are a few things I don't like especially that I can't use iPhoto. What is photo booth? Anything else I should know. I'm not sure I am going to keep this os. What is Tiger like?

All in all, I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

I don't use battery power very much. Usually have it plugged in. It is now fully charged and shows 2.5 hours of charge but I know that can be deceiving.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Go to the apple store online and take a tutorial on Leopard. Then try it, then ask your questions. It will be easier on you as well as the rest of us.

Good suggestion, I'll do that.

Also, while you are at Apple's site, check the battery recall. Some PowerBooks were covered.
Congrats on your new Mac, that sounds like a good price.

Once a laptop series gets beyond its normal useful life, the batteries get expensive. OWC has a NewerTech battery with a wee bit more capacity FWIW. Just an idea.
