Why would an M-AUDIO FW-410 not work on my G5?

and work perfectly fine on my G4 PowerBook?

I spent the morning with tech support and at least we determined that their unit is functioning when plugged into my laptop.

It shows up as FW Bootloader on my firewire bus on the G5

Both Macs are running 10.4.11 and I used the same driver on both computers.

M-AUDIO thought it was my Firewire chip on the G5, but I use firewire all the time with hard drives.
Any thoughts or where to turn?

OK - I did this before but I just did it again.

I tried the one version older driver.

It worked this time.
