Factchecking Palin

I'm not sure most of the people who would be inclined to vote red would see any of this as a negative-- they'd see it more as a victory in fighting for and winning as much green stuff as you can get, in any way possible, no matter who gets screwed by it.
I live in a blue state, too. Like you, I rarely see many of these red-state types in person. I have only the descriptions of my fellow blue-state residents, left-wing websites, and mainstream media caricatures to go by. These characteristics you describe are very insightful.

If I understand correctly, us blue state residents are noble, virtuous, concerned citizens who labor valiantly for the good of all people, with only our nation's best interests at heart, while those red state folks are selfish, cash-obsessed people who will do whatever it takes to get more money, with no regard for the law, no concern for others, interested only in themselves, no matter what.

Yes, that sounds like a very thoughtful, realistic, objective portrait. I take comfort in knowing that those people have an equally honest and realistic image of us, too. I'm very grateful to live in such a benevolent, tolerant, unified country.

Guitarist: Thanks for the mud, but you haven't disputed the facts.
You know, facts, those nasty little things that are true no matter how you spin 'em.

My point is the self-righteous nature of Republicans. Independent types. Rugged individuals. Law and Order. Losers need help form the government, but not me!

Really?

Self righteousness knows no particular political party.

Thanks for the chuckle.
Whatever pain meds you're taking may be available in a slow-release long term implant-- look into it.

I lived in a red state for 10 years (Virginia). Right next to the king of the "Moral Majority" in fact. I can only think of one time I met a stereo-typical red-stater.

We were interviewing day-care providers and when to one's home. She had cut out a magazine add and taped it to her kitchen wall. It was a picture of W with a caption that said "Our President" or "Our Leader" or something like that.

I'm sure it will be replaced with a similarly tasteful portrait of Obama, should he get elected.

A co-worker (who is French) got verbally assaulted at the grocery store. Some redneck was yelling at her for not supporting the glorious war in Iraq. She is very shy and quiet and went her car and cried. If I were her, I would have retorted, "Hey shit-kicker, I make more money than you and pay more taxes, so I am supporting this war a hell of a lot more than you are, you un-patriotic douche-nozzle."
